TECHNICAL SERVICES



INSTALLATIONS & SETUPS


Whether you purchase your system from us, a competitor, one of the Apple corporate stores or even on-line we are always available to install and setup your new system at your home, office or school. If you have an older Mac, we can also transfer your information from the older system to your new one. We can also setup more than just your computer. Have a new printer? Buy a new Airport or Time Capsule and need some help making it work correctly? Just give us a call.



SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS


Is it a hardware or a software problem? Is the problem the logic board or the display? Will I ever see my photos again? Is the computer worth repairing or should I purchase a new one? All these questions and more are ones we can help you answer so you can be an informed decision maker.



SOFTWARE TROUBLESHOOTING


Not every computer problem is hardware related. If you have a flashing question mark on your display it could mean a bad hard drive, a corrupted drive directory or messed up system software. Because we have years of experience and a slew of diagnostic resources at our disposal, we'll track down the source of the problem and get you up and running again in no time.



APPLE WARRANTY, APPLECARE &


OUT OF WARRANTY HARDWARE REPAIRS


Whether it's a damaged hard drive, a broken laptop display, a bad logic board or any other component in your system -- we can get it repaired. Both of our locations are Apple authorized service centers staffed with Apple certified technicians. We offer Apple warranty service, AppleCare extended warranty contracts and service, as well as out-of-warranty repairs.



SYSTEM UPGRADES & MACSIMIZATIONS


Just like you can never have too many shoes, your computer is never fast enough or big enough -- or sometimes if's just an ''old friend'' that you can't bear to part with but yet you want to ''doll it up'' a little. We have a variety of upgrade options for your old G3, G4, G5 and even your newer Intel Macs. So whether you're in need of more memory, a larger hard drive or something somewhat more exotic like an accelerator we can help you out. Sometimes though your system is dragging along because of software related issues. That's where our system macsimization comes in.... We clean up and optimize your hard drive, delete all the old software that doesn't work any more, put things away were they belong, reinstall your system software and more. A full software overhaul usually takes about 3 to 4 hours or more to complete depending on the condition of the drive, but where you get it back it will be functioning at it's optimum capacity given it's hardware limitations. This service is more than a face lift, it gives added life to any system you need to last a bit longer until you are able to purchase a newer one.



PHONE & IN-SHOP SUPPORT


Assistance in walking you through troubleshooting a problem or answering a question is available in our offices or by phone. The in-shop service rate applies but the 1 hour minimum is waved. Phone support is billed to your credit card in 1/4 hour increments or you can purchase a block of time in advance that you can use as needed.



DATA BACKUPS &


DATA RESTORATION FROM BACKUPS


There is ALWAYS a potential for data loss during ANY computer repair procedure (or even during a system update that you perform on your own). Hopefully, you have made a backup system in place that you update regularly and your entire system has been backed up BEFORE bringing it in for service. If you do not have a backup, or you are unable to make a backup, we can attempt to backup your system for you and/or recover your data. This service is ONLY available in-shop and is billed at the applicable rate. We can also help you set up a backup system if you don't already have one.



DATA TRANSFERS & FILE TRANSLATIONS


Do you have a pile of old floppies; zip, jaz, syquest or orb discs in shoe boxes full of old data files that you can't access any more? Are you a printer or graphic designer with old client files that you can't access any more? Do you have old PageMaker files that you need translated for use in Quark or InDesign? Do you have old AppleWorks or ClarisWorks files that you need translated into Microsoft Word files? How about old TIFF, EPS or PICT files that you would like turned into PDFs or JPEGs? Do you need your font library tested and cleaned up? Do you need a viewable library of all your clip art? Believe it or not we can actually handle all of that. We have systems and a software library dating back to the infancy of the Macintosh that allows us to translate and migrate a wide range of old media and files into usable data on CD or DVD. We can also take those time consuming tasks like cleaning up your fonts and clip art files off your ''to do'' list. If extensive, these projects can be handled at a discounted, per project rate.



SUDDEN SERVICE


GENERAL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT REPAIR


Our sister company Sudden Service offers professional repair services for any type of electronic equipment -- audio and video equipment, home electronics, office equipment, computer peripherals, musical equipment and more. Sudden Service is an authorized service provider for Peavey, Kustom, Crate, Marshall and other musical equipment manufacturers. These services are available at both MacClinic locations, and labor rates are the same as those for the MacClinc.




OTHER SERVICES



LAYAWAY PAYMENT PLAN


Because larger repair or purchase costs never seem to occur when we have extra money to spare, we offer a lay-away payment plan for repairs as well as the purchase of new equipment.



PRIVATE TUTORING


Angele is available for private Macintosh tutoring either in-shop (if you have a laptop) or on-site at your home, office or school. Whether you are new to the Macintosh, or just want a better understanding of the finer points of using a specific application, a private session will get your questions answered. While many of our customers ask about classes, we have learned through bitter experience that classroom learning if ineffectual. Everyone wants to learn something different, everyone's knowledge level is different, and everyone goes away unhappy. With a one-on-one session, you can bring a list of your specific questions and get them ALL answered while sitting at your own computer. Doesn't that make sense? So if your want to learn the basics of using a Mac, or how to organize your photos in iPhoto, or eMail those photos to family and friends, or set up a bookkeeping and budgeting program, or edit your pictures in Photoshop, or set up a web page in iWeb, or manage multiple eMail accounts, or design a complete set of office documents with InDesign, or any number of other things you may want to do better on your Mac, give Angele a call and set up an appointment.



CONSIGNMENT SALES


Do you have a Macintosh computer you would like to sell but don't want to be bothered with the questions and the phone calls? We will accept your system (G4 or newer laptops, G5 or newer desktops) on consignment. We will run it through diagnostics, erase the hard drive so no one ends up with your information, do a clean install of the system software and manage all the prospective buyers -- and trust me, we ALWAYS have people looking for used equipment. All you need to do is tell us how much you want and the lowest price you will accept. The charge for this service is $100 per system (regardless of how many pieces it includes).



RECYCLING


Be earth friendly and recycle your old Macintosh computer equipment with us. Do you have a closet full of electronics doing nothing but taking up space and collecting dust? Drop them off at either of our offices and we will do our best to find good homes for working items and/or properly dispose of non-working ones for you.



INFOSCAPES


GRAPHIC DESIGN & PUBLISHING


Our sister company, Infoscapes, offers professional graphic design services. From logo creation to business cards, from brochures to web sites, from custom databases to hand crafted invitations and more; Infoscapes offers the same level of personalized service you expect from both of our other companies. Infoscapes also produces a line of unique personal organizers for all of us non-linear outside-the-box thinkers that are NOTHING like you have ever encountered. In addition, we offer assistive services to self-publishers that range from copy editing to production management. You can reach us the same way you reach the MacClinic. IN-SHOP, SHIP-IN OR ON-SITE SERVICE


Most repairs are best handled in our offices where we have extensive tools available to in system diagnostics and repairs. However, sometimes (for example instances when network or internet problems arise) bringing the system to us is not practical or advised. We are available for scheduled on-site service at an additional cost. See the rates and policies pages for details.



OUT OF HOURS DROP-OFF & PICKUP


If you need to drop off or pickup your equipment before or after our normal hours of operation, just call our office to make arrangements for us to be there early or remain late to meet your schedule. There is not charge for this courtesy service.



PICKUP & DELIVERY SERVICES


Pickup and delivery of your computer from your home, office or school can be arranged. The cost for this service is listed on the rates page and policies page. This service is provided by outside couriers and these individuals are not technicians. Therefore, they cannot answer your questions, disconnect, reconnect or test your components. If you require those services, you will need to schedule an appointment for on-site service.



RUSH & PRIORITY SERVICE


Same day or next day rush service is available at 2x the standard rate. All other services are performed on a first come first served basis unless you are one of the following types of customers, who receive priority service:


Priority Group 1 -- If you have a CustomCare contract with the MacClinic


Priority Group 2 -- If your purchased your system from the MacClinic


Priority Group 3 -- If you have brought your system in for warranty service.
